Altered Candy Tin

I've officially altered my first candy tin and I'm officially hooked! I had so much fun with this project!! At the request of a hostess, I will be teaching this project at a February FunShop. I'm so glad that she requested it...this little tin had been staring at me and I needed a little push to get started. :)

Projects to share

Look at these cuties!! This is my nephew and niece and I just love this photo. I asked their mother how she and the photographer got them to stand so still and her reply was, 'We didn't, the photographer was just really good!!'

I'm still trying to decide how to finish this layout, but I just had to go ahead and post it for now. :)

A good friend of mine is celebrating her birthday tomorrow. This is the card that I made for her. It features one of TAC's newest sets- Butterbees and More. I stamped the bird on to a cream colored cardstock and used my Prismacolor watercolor pencils to color it. Then I cut it out and glued it in place.

This is one of TAC's new Matchbook kits. It's called Pemberley Bay. All the pieces in the kit are double-sided and printed on 100-lb. premium cardstock The kit includes the matchbook cover, 7 pages, and coordinating tags and tabs. I also discovered that it coordinates well with the Hemingway paper. My last image shows a tag from the Hemingway tags. If you like kits, you should really check out this one!

Card Box

I love the little boxes that you can make with 4" coasters. I took the same idea, but made it a little bigger. This box can hold cards and it's covered with some of TAC's new paper- Amberley Grace. This paper is so beautiful. I wanted to add embellishments to the box, but the paper takes care of it! I just added the word plate and the wording and that was it. I'm still trying to figure out how to put the bases on these boxes. It's kind of a pain and it's hard to make it look pretty. For those of you that have made these, I think you know what I mean. If you have tips for gluing your base on, please send them my way. :)

I completed another entry for a PW contest. The challenge was to get creative with office supplies. I embellished thumbtacks to make some cool push pins for my bulletin board. I used Yes! glue to glue a washer to the top of a thumbtack and then embellished the top of it. I spread mod podge across my stamped image just to seal it a little and give a shiny look. I'll let you know how the Yes! glue holds up. I'm going to let these dry over night and then put them to the test.

Clamshell Creation

The Angel Company packages their rubber stamps in plastic 'clamshell' boxes. The boxes tend to pile up and Angie issued a challenge over at PW. Her challenge was to come up with creative uses/projects for clamshell boxes. I designed a piece of artwork that could be displayed inside of the smallest clamshell box, the GWP box (Gift With Purchase). The GWP boxes have have a little hanging tab, so I tied ribbon across the top of it and then the little box can be hung up to display.

To add dimension to my artwork, I layered my Starburst Floral images by placing pop dots between the layers. I also used pop dots to raise the butterfly wings. For a closer look, just click the images.

Check out more clamshell creations in the Paper Wings Gallery Contest section.

Stamp Indexing

I have known about stamp indexing, but just never took the time to really check into it or try it. My stamps from the new TAC catty came yesterday (yeah!) and I decided that I'd try this indexing stuff. So I watched this tutorial created by a fellow Angel, Sara. I was successful at indexing my stamp sets and I think it's going to be so helpful. I think it's really going to help when it comes to stamping words and sentiments. I'm such a perfectionist and I want things to be straight and neat. If you haven't tried indexing your unmounted stamps, I strongly reccomend it!

The picture above is from Nancy Grant's blog. She was kind enough to let me borrow her picture and link you to her indexing tutorial. She has some great pictures and directions. Thanks Nancy!

I'm off to play with my new stamp sets and to prepare projects for my next workshop. Have a great day!

The new TAC catalog is amazing!! I have my order all ready to go. Yipee!! I won a TAC contest about a month back and the prize is $75 in FREE stamps! That's one of the great reasons to be an Angel. Even if you aren't interested in having FUNshops or parties, you can be an Angel and get in on the awesome contests and also be a part of Paper Wings Forum (PW). Paper Wings is not run by The Angel Company- it was started by two TAC Angels that wanted a place for TAC demonstrators to come and share business tips, crafting techniques and form great friendships. So, if you're interested in getting your wings, please let me know!!

I have to brag on my friend Nicole. She entered her first TAC contest and she won! Way to go Nicole!! Keep up the great work and have fun spending that stamp money! You can check our Nicole's winning entry here.

I'm teaching a technique class on Jan. 17th and one of the techniques that we'll be doing is Spotlight Stamping. Here's a little sneak peak...
