Online Crop

I participated in my first online crop. I had a blast! I've never even been to a real crop, so this was fun. The sketch above was the first challenge of the evening. You can see how I interpreted the layout. Be sure to click on the picture of the layout to get a closer view. The little girl is the daughter of some dear friends of my DH and I. She's such a cutie!

Sadly, this is the only thing I managed to finish all night. I was having too much fun chatting with the other ladies and participating in all the other fun games...like guessing how many M & M's were in a Prima bottle. :) We have until Sunday at midnight to upload all of our challenges. I'll have to see what I can finish up.

Some exciting news...I sold my first card on my card shop. I couldn't believe my eyes as I read the email that said someone had purchased one of MY cards. It really made my day. Well, it't midnight and I'd better head off to bed.

Tag Sketch Challenge

This is a tag sketch by Becky Fleck and I used it for a tag sketch challenge on a message board that I'm a part of. This is my take of the sketch. I used patterened cardstock from TAC. I just love their paper.

On to something different...I came across Etsy and have set up my own shop. I'm so excited about it!! I know there are a lot of people out there selling their hand made cards and creations, but I thought I'd give it a try. I set up a 'Mini Etsy' on my blog. You can view items that I currently have for sale and can also click the link and go right to my shop.

I need to get to bed...thanks for reading!!

Card Kit Swap

I just completed a card kit swap with some friends. We had to create or borrow a card sketch, make a kit for it and then mail it to two different people. The cards above come from the kits I received. I had a lot of fun with this swap.

This is the card that I designed. I made up my own sketch. The coloring is really dull here, I'm working on my picture taking- trying to come up with the right kind of set up and light. It's hard to scan my cards because I like to use embellishments and then it's too bumpy to lay on the scanner bed.

First Sketch Challenge

I just completed and submitted my first sketch challenge. On the message board that I'm a member of, we were given a sketch by Becky Fleck to base our page on. The couple in the picture are good friends of my husband and I. My scanner bed isn't big enough, so I had to take a picture of it. The quality is bad and doesn't do the page justice, but I did the best I could. I had a lot of fun with this challenge. It was a little difficult since I mainly make cards. I'd like to start making layouts more often. I recently bought a magazine called Easy Patterns for Scrapbooking (a special issue from Creating Keepsakes). It has awesome patterns that allow you to create several layouts, cards, tags, etc. from each pattern. I'm anxious to try out some of the patterns.

Kit Swap

It feels so good when you complete a project well before a deadline. :) I joined a Kit Swap at HSS (Happy Scrappin' Scrapbooking) and I just got it finished. Each person in the swap was paired up with two other people. You are supposed to design a card sketch and a card kit with all the supplies needed to complete the project. Each recipient will receive a sketch and a kit. I can't wait to receive my kits from the people I was paired with. I'll be sure to post my finished cards. Once I know my swap partners have received their kits I will post the card that I designed.

HSS has a fun message board...a great group of ladies. I usually just lurk around, but I've decided that I'd like to get more involved. So I joined the kit swap and a layout challenge. The sketch for the layout challenge comes from Becky Fleck. She has a lot of wonderful skethes and ideas.

Now I have to decide what to work on next...I'm a little torn...I could go and work on my layout challenge, but I may play some WOW with my husband. Yes...I play an online role playing game. I NEVER thought I would ever get into playing a game like that, but I gave it a try one day and I've played ever since. I have a level 37 Hunter and a level 26 Priest. My husband and I have several friends that play and it's a lot of fun. It's a way that I can spend some fun time with my husband. Are there any other WOW players out there? Leave me a comment. :)

It's funny how you can spend a ton of time on a project and then at the last moment just scrap everything and go a different way...like this card, for example.
The picture didn't come out very well...sorry. I worked and worked on a stamped image that I was going to put in the top left corner, but once I put it there the card was off balance and it seemed to fight the patterned paper. The patterned paper is is from the Tres Jolie collection by My Mind's Eye and the sentiment is from TAC. The paper is beautiful by itself. So I guess I'll just leave it just like this. I made this card for a very special friend. We talked on the phone this evening. She had a joy to share and I had sorrow to share...a tough conversation, but through it I see what a good friend she is. I realize my posts are few and far between. I'm hoping to work on some projects towards the end of this week. We'll see what happens.
