I offered a card sketch challenge in my July Newsletter. The challenge was to make a card following the sketch and to use TAC supplies. I drew a name from a hat and Diana was the winner! (That's her card above) This paper is from TAC's Rustic Chic paper pad. Isn't her card beautiful?

Banner!!!

Check out my banner!! My sister and husband created it for me. My husband sketched the starry sprig and my sister did the rest. I'm going to keep my blog address as Sarah's Studio, but my banner will read 'LadyGil Designs'. It's the name of my Etsy store and my 'production' name. My sister is also creating an avatar for me to use for Etsy and my PaperWings forum. She and my hubby are very talented and I'm so glad they helped me out. Thanks guys!!

This is one of the cards that I'll be offering for a Make 'N Take at my upcoming catalog reveal party. The little patterned paper square behind the stamped iamge is from TAC's new paper pack called Hemingway. Hemingway is beautiful...teals, browns and golds.

I stamped the blue cardstock with a flower from TAC's 'Circle Sampler' set and a VersaMark pad. The cat and chair have been watercolored...the blue on the chair didn't show up to well in this picture. The tag is a stamp from the 'Label Words' set.

I'm off to the post office now. I'm expecting a box of ribbon and a TAC paper sampler. Gearing up for my reveal party...I would love to have you come if you're in the area. I'll post information on the party within the next two days.

Rustic Chic Note Cards

The Rustic Chic paper from TAC has been my favorite for quite awhile now. I love greens and browns. They are so beautiful. I made this set of note cards for my Etsy shop.

I'm in the process of designing the make 'n takes for my upcoming catalog reveal party. I'm having a hard time making the first cut unto my new patterned papers. I don't want to mess up!

Supplies used for Rustic Chic note cards:
Stamp sets by TAC- Flourishes, Diva Dresses, Tag Tidbits
Rustic Chic patterned paper by TAC
Misc. ribbon, brads
Cuttlebug flower dies
brown, green and cream cardstock

I made these cards and tags to put on my Etsy shop. I cut the teal card stock several days ago and kept drawing a blank as to what I wanted to do with it. I picked through my scrap bags of cardstock and found the pink and green. On the card, I added brown by adding ribbon; on the tag I added brown machine stitching along the left edge. I like to use my sewing machine on paper projects, but I get a little stressed because I want to do it right the first time. By the time I'm ready to sew I usually have most of the project done. So, if I mess up it means the entire thing is ruined. (Can you tell I'm just a little bit of a perfectionist??)

I'm gearing up for my big catalog reveal for TAC's newly released catalog. I placed a big order and it consisted mainly of paper. TAC has released some AMAZING new papers. They also have coordinating cardstock, ribbon and embellishments. Yahoo! My new favorite stamp set is the Circle Sampler. (I used it on the projects above.) Now is the time that I wish I had an E-Commerce site with TAC. Then I'd be able to link you right to the stamp sets. Maybe an E-Commerce site lies in my future...hmmm....

Be sure to check out this brand new blog called
PS Therapy (PaperStamping) It is created by a friend and co-worker of mine. I'm so glad to have her join the blogging world. Be sure to stop by and tell her hello!

Stamped Candles

So, what do you think? I had so much fun making these! I'm teaching a class this Thursday on how to make a money holder and I will demonstrate stamped candles at the end of the class; just as a fun little bonus.

I found a great tutorial on how to make stamped candles at Splitcoaststampers by Jenni Mouer. If you've never tried this out, you really should give it a try. The results are well worth it.

Stamp sets used-
Candle 1- Fanciful Flowers and Pretty Posies
Candle 2- Light the Path
Candle 3- Swirly Gigs and Forget Not

Home

This is the layout I submitted for Dawn's sketch challenge over at PW. In the photo, I am holding Ethan. He belongs to my good friends, Mendy and Lance. They have been missionaries in Vienna, Austria, for the past 4 years. Mendy, Lance and Ethan are officially back in Kansas...to stay! I'm so glad they are home!! I can't wait to hold Ethan in my arms again. :)

All supplies from The Angel Company

Paper, stickers and tags are from 'Sands of Time' 12 x12 paper collection

Journaling stamp from set 'Just Journaling'

I've Been Tagged

I've been tagged by Corie. So, if I understand right, I now need to tell 7 things about myself.

O.K., 7 things about me...

1. I am a Kindergarten teacher

2. I will celebrate 8 years of marriage to my wonderful hubby, Chris, this Nov.

3. My favorite ride is the Tilt-O-Whirl, or as hubby calls it, The Tilt-and-Hurl.
(He's not a fan of it)

4. I play the piano by ear. This didn't thrill my piano teacher...I take after my
dad (he plays by ear, too) he's an amazing piano player and I hope I can someday
play as well as he can.

5. My dad wrote a song for each of us kids when we were born...he sang my song to
me at my wedding.

6. I play an online game called World of War Craft with my husband. I have a level
40 Hunter and a level 23 Priest. (Both are Horde) My hubby had played the game
for quite awhile and I finally decided to give it a try one day. It's quite fun.

7. My favorite treat from Shake's is the Big Bopper...I have a weakness for them.
It's a good thing the nearest one is an hours drive away.

Color Challenge

I participated in a color challenge at the PW forum.
It was given by Jen Carter. It was my first time to do a color challenge and it was both stressful and fun. (Can it be both of those things at once??) I pulled out every piece of carstock that I could find that was even remotely close to the challenge colors. I tried a maroon card base and then a white base...didn't like it. I finally found the perfect piece of green cardstock and then grabbed my 'Wittle Bug' stamp set and everything fell into place. (The green cardstock is washed out in this picture...I wish you could see the card in real life!)

Thanks for looking!!

Supplies:

'Wittle Bug' and 'More One Liners' stamp sets from TAC
Prismacolor watercolor pencils
Tombow Blender Pen
Gray Tombow Pen
Black StazOn stamp pad
cardstock

Wah-Hoo!!!

My husband and I helped out with VBS at our church last week. We averaged about 45 kids each evening and 18 accepted Christ! I think that is so awesome!! As you can tell from the picture above, we had a western theme. Our VBS was called 'Welcome to Avalanche Ranch. A Wild Ride Through God's Word! I was in charge of the music for the opening and closing. I also taught 4 sections each evening at the 'Prairie Dog Preschool'. I'm a kindergarten teacher, so I'm used to being around 5 yr. olds, but those preschoolers are a totally different kind of group! You've really got to be prepared and make sure you keep things moving!! My husband is always a big hit with the kids. (He's a big kid himself!) He was in charge of the 'Wild West Theater' for the older kids. All in all it was a great week and we're so glad that we were able to be a part of it.

I've officially posted my first card challenge at the new TAC demo site, Paper Wings. I'm using a card sketch from a great site called Page Maps. Becky Fleck has some awesome sketches to check out. I had fun making this card. If you feel inspired by this sketch I'd love to see what you come up with. Leave me a comment and link your card and I'll swing by your blog and take a look! Have a great day!!

PP - Mulberry Meadows from TAC
Plum colored card stock for card base
