Mini Album

This is a mini album that I made for my husband Chris for Valentine's Day. I covered mat board with patterend cardstock for the front and back cover and used black cardstock for the pages. I punched three holes in the side of the cover and pages and tied it with black ribbon. For the number 10 and the letter 'I' on the front cover I used Round-a-Bout from Sizzix and for the word 'things' I used the Girly Girls set from Sizzix. I wrote 'about you' with an embossing pen and black embossing powder.

I die cut my numbers with Round-a-Bout and journaled with a white gel pen.

I had a ton of fun making this mini album. I usually stick to making cards and steer clear of scrapbooking, but when I do things on a smaller scale, like mini books, I have fun. My hubby really liked his mini album. :)

Baggie Book Swap

These are the cards that I made for a couple of baggie book swaps that I'm in. A baggie book is made by slipping cardfronts (or whole cards) into a baggie (like a sandwhich-type bag) and then binding all the bags together to form one book. I usually fold a rectangular piece of paper in half lengthwise and sandwhich the bags tops between the paper and then staple both ends to hold everything in place. You can decorate the paper piece as well. I'm sure there are other ways to do it, but that is what I've done. When our swap is over I will have a baggie book that has cardfronts that use flower sets and a baggie book that uses GWP's from our current TAC catalog. These are great things to have sitting out at my workshops. People love to look through the little books.

For the daisy card I used a masking technique. I've linked a great tutorial created by Beate Johns at the SCS site. Masking can be time consuming, but you usually get great results. It is a lot of fun and I think it provides so many more ways for you to utilize your rubber stamps. The set I used for this card is called Pretty Posies. The sentiment is from a different set...can't remember the name at the moment. I watercolored the flowers with my Prismacolor watercolor pencils and I inked the edges with black ink.

The second card was for the GWP baggie book. GWP's (Gifts with Purchase) are the fun, small rubber stamps that TAC gives to customer's with each $30 purchase. The stamp I chose is one of our newest GWP's and it is called Classy Lady. I used paper piecing on my stamped image. I stamped the image once on white cardstock and once on purple cardstock. Using the image on the purple cardstock- I cut out her shoulders and the ribbon from her hat. I adhered these pieces to the image on the white cardstock. I colored her with my watercolor pencils. I used paper from one of TAC's designer paper pads and layered it onto purple cardstock. I embelished the card with three black brads and black ribbon. The sentiment is from a separate TAC stamp set.
Glad to have these done...off to mail them in a little bit.

This is a card that uses hair gel in a baggy to create 'water' for the fish. It's a lot of fun and I plan to use it at an upcoming workshop. The stamp set is from TAC. I used the nested rectangle Coluzzle template to cut my opening. (I really like those templates.) I used VersaMark and my little fish stamp for the images on the edges of the card and I used Prismacolor watercolor pencils to color the images.
Today was a very good day...I got a lot of card 'stuff' done today. I joined two baggy swapps with one of my TAC message boards and got both sets of cards finished. Then I worked on making kits for my next workshop. I'm on spring break and I've really been enjoying my mornings...that's when I get a chance to work on my card making.

I love this cute little monkey. It comes from The Angel Company's set called Little Friends. I stamped the monkey with Timber Brown StazOn and colored him in with Prismacolor water color pencils. I inked the edges with brown ink. I have two more cards that I'll post later on this weekend. I'm off to dinner and a movie!!
